Artisan of Jasmine Green Tea
Li Xin
For twenty-five years, Li Xin has been perfecting the art of jasmine green tea, a craft she first learned from her grandfather. But beyond technique, it is her deep love and devotion to tea that drives her forward.
Jasmine tea carries a paradox in its name. Though it bears the character for “flower” in Chinese, the final tea sometimes reveals no trace of petals—only the intoxicating fragrance left behind. This delicate transformation is the result of a meticulous scenting process, where green tea absorbs the fleeting essence of fresh jasmine blossoms. It is an art that demands both intuition and precision.
Li Xin believes that in tea-making, every detail matters. The weather, temperature, humidity—each day brings subtle shifts that affect how jasmine flowers retain moisture, ultimately influencing the tea’s final flavor. She watches, adjusts, and refines every step, knowing that small details shape great tea.
"To craft good tea, you must be meticulous, disciplined, and willing to endure hardship," she says. "It’s no different from life itself. Tea reflects character—this is the greatest lesson my grandfather taught me."
Through the hands of the Li family, jasmine green tea is not just made—it is nurtured, guided, and perfected, ensuring that every cup holds the delicate balance of sweetness, aroma, and tradition.
