Alishan: Home of Exceptional Oolong

The towering Alishan Mountain creates ideal growing conditions for oolong tea trees. The tea production area in the Alishan region is mostly at altitudes ranging from 1,000 to 1,800 meters above sea level. The exceptional quality and partial fermentation of the high mountain oolong tea from Alishan Mountain has earned it widespread fame across Taiwan and the whole world.

The tea gardens in this region cover approximately 10,000 hectares. The majority of this tea production area is located in Taiping within Meishan Township and ranges between elevations of 900 to 1,400 meters. The primary tea cultivated in this area is Qingxin Oolong.

Alishan Oolong tea brews into a refreshing and pleasant beverage. The brew displays a transparent honey-green hue with golden undertones and emits a fresh and unique elegant scent. Tea leaves undergo a drying process that transforms them into compact balls with half-spherical shapes.

Leaves remain whole while stems extend moderately in length and buds together with leaves display substantial thickness and resilience. The cool high-mountain climate of Alishan combined with large temperature fluctuations between day and night reduces the bitter elements found in the tea buds and leaves. This makes the tea taste naturally sweeter. Tea plants growing slowly develop soft buds alongside thick leaves that have a high pectin concentration.

The tea plants here primarily receive irrigation from mountain spring water. Mountain air aroma enhances the tea's flavor while boosting its natural sweetness. When you drink Alishan Oolong your senses transport you to the tranquil expanse of a mountain valley. The tea emits a silent orchid fragrance while delivering a gentle touch of toasted sweetness. The tea's simple yet intricate taste has earned it universal appreciation.
