For finest taste, tea should be stored in a place that is cool and dry.

Rock tea is best enjoyed within a 3-year period.

Black tea is best enjoyed within a 2-year period.

Green tea and Oolong tea are best enjoyed within a 2-year period.

White tea is an exception. Its internal compounds evolve over time, enhancing its fragrance and creating a deeper, mellower taste. Therefore, it does not have a specific optimal drinking period.

What are the “roots” of Rooteas?

Rooteas tea making skills

Family-made

Our teas all come from tea-making families. Some are made by our own family, and others are crafted by families we've known and trusted for years. Not from an unknown source, but from real people and family producers whose craft we trust and have seen in person.

Single-origin

It means you can actually taste where the tea comes from. It stays true to its own place, so the local soil, rocks, and climate all come through in the cup. With Wuyi rock oolong, you get that clear rock rhythm (Yan Yun) and a deep, lingering fragrance that only those rocky slopes can give. When you drink it, you're not just having a cup of tea, you're getting a small snapshot of that landscape.

We like to keep things honest and simple. When we share a tea, we share all the detailed information too, so you always know what you're drinking. We'd love to be the trusted tea partner you can turn to.

Gong Mei, whose Chinese name means it was once a tribute tea offered to the royal court. Gong Mei's greatest charm is its elegance. The tea soup shows a soft yellow-green color, clear and clean. Gently lift the cup and take a sniff. You’ll find a gentle, orchid-like scent with a sweet touch. Although the fragrance isn't powerful it maintains a profound sense of pleasure. It might just evoke memories of a summer afternoon with rain outside, while raindrops gently hit the window creating a fresh air sensation.

Each piece is pressed into a small “biscuit” shape, so you won’t need to struggle with a tea knife to break pieces off a large cake.

An Unique White Tea

Raw material for making Gong Mei is mainly from Fuding, Zhenghe, Jianyang, and Songxi. In the past, Gong Mei was made from the buds of the Xiao Cai Cha in the spring. It means that the maker has to pick one bud with two or three young leaves. Later, Gong Mei was made from the spring or autumn leaves of Fuding Da Bai Cha and Fuding Da Hao Cha cultivars.

The name “Gong Mei” has a long history. “Gong” means “tribute” and “Mei” is the eyebrow. Therefore, Gong Mei means “Tribute Eyebrow”. This was a tribute to the emperor in ancient times. This name not only represents the past, but also shows that Gong Mei has a special status in white tea at present.

Compared with other white teas, Gong Mei is quite different. The leaves are relatively big and thick. The stems are slightly strong. The color is deep green. From its looks, we can tell that Gong Mei is unique and its taste is rich.

The taste is what people like best about Gong Mei. It has a pure fresh taste combined with a fresh natural fragrance. It is like a mountain breeze, touching your senses and leaving a good aftertaste.
